Governor Mike Huckabee is defending the right of South Carolina to fly the Confederate flag.

Juan McCain has condemned the Confederate flag as racist, and said it should not be flown anywhere.

Surely the federal government should have no role in this decision. It should be decided by a state referendum, if necessary. Personally, I could care less.

I am really trying to get into the Huckabee mode but I heard a story today that set me back a bit. He relayed a story about when he was back in collage all they were allowed to have in the dorm to heat up food was a popcorn roster. Huck went on to describe how they would roast squirrel in the popcorn maker. Honestly stories like this should never ever be talked about by a candidate running for president of the United States. What can he be thinking?

Don't bash NYC a good portion of us on here are from the City it isn't all bad. Good luck walking through Atlanta at 2am with a confederate flag you'll probably have a tough time getting out of there alive...it's not exactly like Gone with the Wind anymore down there.

I don't think he's bashing good people of NYC but rather the politics and the majority of liberals that made NYC what it is today. I would never visit NYC even if you paid me. It's disgusting what it's turned into.

Well do you really think that Atlanta is any better? I'd bet NYC is much cleaner and safer than Atlanta is. And how do you know NYC is so bad if you haven't visited it? I don't like what the city is becoming either but I don't like all of us getting stereotyped by a bunch of liberal comi yuppies either.

My home state of Georgia used to have a confederate battle flag for there state flag untill 1999 or 2000ish. It was replaced with something else.

That flag is based on the real Stars and Bars design. The real Stars and Bars looked exactly like the current flag of Georgia, except that there were only seven stars in the blue canton.

The confederate flag is firstmost a flag of rebellion and succession. IF South Carolina wants to have a confederate flag over the capital, then they should succeed from the United Stated.

Whats the reason of that flag besides to [censored] blacks? I mean besides the racial issue, whats the purpose of such a flag? The south lost, and is now part of the U.S.A. so whats the point of having an independent flag (unless they want to be seperated from the rest of the country).

There have been a few countries in history that had more than one national flag, South Africa comes to mind
