McCain does seem like he is gaining momentum in a party that is supposed to have conservative values.However, he's not a real conservative.
Many republicans of today would have been considered democrats yesterday and democrats today would be considered socialists or even communists yesterday; In other words, everything in the political arena has shifted to the left!
McCain would make a great democrat and Clinton/Obama great socialists. However, for those who are true conservatives, you should know better with McCain's record that he is not a real republican. Huckabee and Romney seem to be the better choices.
