GRAFSCHENDSTER MOET 25.000 EURO BETALEN (VRT)
ma 04/02/08 - De 30-jarige vrouw die in december 2006 meer dan 300 graven en urnen vernielde op het kerkhof van Gentbrugge, moet 25.000 euro schadevergoeding betalen. Dat heeft de Gentse raadkamer beslist.
Van dat bedrag gaat ruim 18.000 euro naar het Gentse stadsbestuur. Dat betaalde tot 200 euro schadevergoeding aan de slachtoffers van de grafschade.
Daarnaast krijgen 18 slachtoffers zo'n 6.000 euro als compensatie voor niet-vergoede schade.
Het bedrag zal later nog oplopen, wanneer ook de kosten voor het kerkhof duidelijk zijn. Het totaalbedrag dat de vrouw moet betalen, kan dus nog fiks oplopen tot 70.000 euro.
Volgens de advocaat van de grafschendster is het onmogelijk dat de schadevergoeding daadwerkelijk betaald zal worden. De vrouw is overigens al een tijdje geïnterneerd.
