Unfortunately we now live in a society that chooses to ignore the words of an intellectual prophet like Nostradamus because he's not "hip" enough for the masses, while our world waits with bated breath to hear every single word that drivels out the mouths of irresponsible Hollywood sleaze like Britney Spears.

Perhaps if Nostradamus was pictured in the history books wearing a short leather skirt, tube top, high heels and engaged in illicit sexual acts while being high as a kite on illegal narcotics our society would take his words more seriously? It seems as if that's the ONLY way for people to take you seriously these days. What a shame.

Yes in fact it has been acknowledged on many programs done on Nostradamus that his father hid his faith to escape persecution.  Not sure how many would consider that the principled way around such a matter, however?

I almost wanted to believe you, but facts speak louder than fabled pronouncements of French Jews NOT escaping persecution, many of whom were Spanish (of Marrano descent).  France has always been anti-Semitic and even Anti-Protestant!

The germanic kings in the northern Langue d'Oil  or France proper were, but in  south in Langue D'Oc and Provence there were always politicall division, coultural independancy and religius disidency Waldens, Hugenots or Jews who escaped from Iberia come in mind, The modern France with one language and legal system are results of centralisation and forced frankisation after French revolution.
