You answered your own question. The physical threat of the Russians wasn't as much of a danger to the Jewish people as was the threat of assimilation under Napolean in his view.

We are losing many more Jews to intermarriage than conversion to Christianity.

I don't think, that Christianity is a great threat to Judaism today.

The situation in the most Christian communities is equal to the situation of the progressive or reform Jewish communities.

They are loosing their members to atheism or patchwork religion.

I think that's because in Muslim countries it isn't called the "reform movement", but the "genocide movement". Also, I consider America to be a secular country, not a Christian one. Yes, the various denominations of Christianity comprise the biggest religion in the US, but on a whole the religous seem to be in the minority here. To the best of my knowledge most of the reform movement, as you call it, is lead by atheistic liberals who are under the misguided notion that eliminating Israel will end Muslim violence. It is true that anti-Semitism is common in the US but you should also remember Israel has at least a few allies in this country, which I suspect is a few more than you’ll find among the Muslims.

Well that may not be all that far from the truth. I don't think that Al Sharpton could possibly be following the same religious principles that conservative, Bible-believing Christians do.
