Egypt Stops 13 African Would-be Infiltrators
(IsraelNN.com) An unnamed Egyptian source quoted by the Associated Press said 13 African would-be infiltrators from Eritrea, Ghana, Sudan and the Ivory Coast were arrested trying to cross the border into Israel.
The source, who remained anonymous because he was not authorized to speak with the media, said the group included men, women and children who were looking for work and possibly political asylum.
Public Security Minister Avi Dichter supported the move in a meeting with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, cabinet ministers and defense officials, and demanded that any infiltrators who do get through be returned immediately to Egypt.
