May Day, celebrating on the 1st of May, was long a European pagan festival.
The dance aroung the "Maypole" has its roots in ancient "phallic worship".
May Day was expropriated by the International Communist Movement, subverting it as "The International Day of the Worker".
The Church of Rome expropriated "The Feast of Saturnalia" in like fashion; subverting an already accepted pagan rite to honor the "Birthday of Christ".
Marxism does not, as it so claims, negate the need of religion as an "opiate of the masses", but has merely replaced previous religions with another new one; a faith in "scientific socialism", with which it proclaims itself the "final redemption" of mankind on earth, leading mankind to brotherhood and equality, and putting an end to war.
