Scientology?
« on: May 29, 2008, 08:56:28 AM »
So what exactly is Scientology? I been researching it for about 3 hours and I still don't understand what it's all about or why anyone would join this religion? I guess it was started by some failed science fiction guy named Hubbard and he said if you wanted to make a lot of money, to start a religion. I know Tom Cruise is a member of Scientology but what exactly is so controversial about them and why do they sue people who try to question or expose them?

This episode of south park will explain it in a nutshell...

Scientology is, to sum it up in one sentence, "A science fiction cult that is still being written."  That's my own words. :)

Muslim: What!?  That is an outrage!  Take that back or I kill you!

Scientology is a fraud made by a bigoted science fiction writer as a scam to get money.

That's all there is to say.

Scientology kills people. People have died from being abused and murdered on their Sea Org trips and also because they told psychotic people not to take their medicines. Not only do they kill, but they take every last penny someone has. They even convinced an elderly person to mortgate her debt-free home.

People believe in it because of the spiritual vacuum that C.F. was talking about a while back that leads people to worship Obama.

Basically they claim that they can cure you of all addictions and other problems, that all these problems are caused by body thetans, which they can clear you of. Then there are the upper levels where they learn all kinds of freaky things like "Xenu".

Did you see the South Park episode about it? It's a very accurate description of their beliefs.

I think scientology did not claim to be a religion at the start. It is said that when they got law problems they decided to become a "religion".

According to wikipedia, there is a Church Of Scientology in Israel? That's bad.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_scientology#Israel

Israel

In Israel, according to Israeli professor of psychology Benjamin Beit-Hallahmi, "in various organizational forms, Scientology has been active among Israelis for more than thirty years, but those in charge not only never claimed the religion label, but resisted any such suggestion or implication. It has always presented itself as a secular, self-improvement, tax-paying business."[87] Those "organizational forms" include a Scientology Organization in Tel Aviv. Another Israeli Scientology group called "The Way to Happiness" (or "Association for Prosperity and Security in the Middle East") works through local Scientologist members to promote The Way to Happiness.[88] An Israeli CCHR chapter runs campaigns against abuses in psychiatry[89]. Other Scientology campaigns, such as "Youth for Human Rights International" are active as well.[90] There is also an ultra-Orthodox Jewish group that opposes Scientology and other religions in Israel[91], Lev L'Achim, whose anti-missionary department in 2001 provided a hotline and other services to warn citizens of Scientology's "many types of front organizations".[92]

They are totally nuts.

They believe, that little ghosts are on our Skin and we have to get rid of them to reach "Clear".

They have different methods to reach higher steps of "Clear".

I think the highest is the "Operating Tetan"  :D

The founder of this cult was a horror and SciFi book author. His name was Hubbard.

It should be banned this cult

Dr. Dan and Rubystars beat me to it, actually, that episode of South Park will explain it perfectly. Actually, it is probably wierder in reality than they show on the episode. Yes, it is wierd, but I have never known it to be violent unless I missed something, not defending it, just saying I never knew it to be violent like islime.

They are very scary.  Youtube allows them to have thier own channel.  They call anti scientologists "seditious persons" and have a "fair game" policy where anything is allowed to be done to their critics.  They perpetrated the largest government infiltration (other than the Muzzies are doing right now) from a religious organization.  They got inside the IRS and then were able to push them to make Scientology a tax exemped organization in the USA.  They use phrases like, "what are you afraid of?" and "what are your sins?" like some body snatchers cult to their enemies.  If you publicly criticize them, they've been known to accuse people of child molestation and harrass them at home and when they arrive at the airport.
