McCain Offers $300 Million Prize for New Auto Battery
« on: June 23, 2008, 10:44:29 AM »
PHOENIX — John McCain hopes to solve the country’s energy crisis with cold hard cash.
The presumed Republican nominee is proposing a $300 million government prize to whoever can develop an automobile battery that far surpasses existing technology. The bounty would equate to $1 for every man, woman and child in the country, “a small price to pay for helping to break the back of our oil dependency,” McCain said in remarks prepared for delivery Monday at Fresno State University in California.

McCain said such a device should deliver power at 30 percent of current costs and have “the size, capacity, cost and power to leapfrog the commercially available plug-in hybrids or electric cars.”

The Arizona senator is also proposing stiffer fines for automakers who skirt existing fuel-efficiency standards, as well as incentives to increase use of domestic and foreign alcohol-based fuels such as ethanol.

In addition, a so-called Clean Car Challenge would provide U.S. automakers with a $5,000 tax credit for every zero-carbon emissions car they develop and sell.

“In the quest for alternatives to oil, our government has thrown around enough money subsidizing special interests and excusing failure,” said excerpts from McCain’s prepared text. “From now on, we will encourage heroic efforts in engineering, and we will reward the greatest success.”

The proposal comes as gasoline has reached a record cost of more than $4 a gallon. That has boosted the price of virtually all goods and services, sent commuters flocking to public transportation and increased tensions between the United States and its Middle Eastern Nazi oil suppliers.

Last week McCain suggested one way to ease supply concerns would be to lift a federal ban on offshore oil drilling if individual states want to allow it. His Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Hussein Obama of Illinois, opposes that idea, saying it would do nothing to address immediate price concerns.

On Sunday, Obama told a Washington audience he would strengthen government oversight of energy traders whose futures speculation he blames in large part for the skyrocketing price of oil.

In his latest speech, McCain expressed exasperation both with the federal government and the private sector.

He said rising costs during a time of stagnant wages evokes the 1970s era of “stagflation.”

Without blaming his fellow Republicans in the Bush administration directly, McCain said: “It feels the same today, because the unwise policies of our government have left America’s energy future in the control of others.”

The pork-barrel opponent also blasted “a hodgepodge of incentives” for the purchase of fuel-efficient cars.

“Different hybrids and natural-gas cars carry different incentives, ranging from a few hundreds dollars to four grand. They’re the handiwork of lobbyists, with all the inconsistency and irrationality that involves,” McCain said.

Following the speech, McCain was scheduled to attend fundraisers in Fresno and Santa Barbara, part of a money push that helped the senator raise a personal record of $21 million last month.

A number of people offer to change existing cars into battery-run cars and can do it. Fox news had a special on Sunday regarding this and other alternative energy stuff. Some people are converting their Porsche 911's. One guy converted his stock race car and won a race with it. I think I am going to do it with one of my cars.

Gaddafi and Obama

As we can clearly hear above, Muammar al-Gaddafi discusses the ‘importance’ of a Barack Hussein Obama Presidency to the Islamic ‘Ummah’, in contrast to what he terms “the Dictatorship and Imperialism of the United States”.

As we have already discussed on this BlogZine (read “The Little Left Book“), the ‘New Left’ ideology, which seems to be motivating, financing and energizing the Obama campaign, is a white washed brand of Maoist socialism, and ironically enough, it is very similar to the concept of “change” and “hope” which cemented Gaddafi’s rise to fame. The question then arises; is Gaddafi speaking about Obama on a random whim, or does he have a concrete connection to Barack Obama?

By the time Wright and Farrakhan visited, Libyan oil imports had been banned, and America was trying to topple what it called a “rogue regime.” In the several years after that, Farrakhan was pro-active for Qadhfi, even as Libya was internationally isolated for suspected involvement in numerous terror plots, including the explosion of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.
Farrakhan’s and Wright’s 1984 visit and subsequent support was done precisely to openly ally themselves with a declared enemy of the United States. Why? Because these two American men of the clergy — Farrakhan and Wright — are avowed enemies of the United States.

Of course, Black Liberation Theology and it’s connection to Maoism/Leninism/Marxism is a well established fact.

Should the fact that Gaddafi knowledge of Obama’s religious and ethnic background seems a bit more advanced than most Americans really surprise us? Are we to assume that Rev. Wright and Gaddafi have not discussed the candidacy of Barack Hussein Obama throughout this process? Has Louis Farrakhan never discussed the immense possibilities that an Obama Presidency could bring for their respective ideologies? Or is Gaddafi simply responding to those “evil internet rumors” to which Obama makes reference on a daily basis?

The New York Times reported August 27, 1996 (h/t GS), that Farrakhan had applied to the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control for “permission” to accept a $1 billion “donation” pledged by Qaddafi during Farrakhan’s January 1996 trip to Libya, which had been under U.S. sanctions for years due to its “links to terrorism” that “bar most business transactions between the two countries and limit travel.”
To some people, all of these unwholesome links among Obama’s many strange friends may somehow seem ‘irrelevant’ or ‘inconsequential’, but to those of us who actually THINK, the dots are already connected, and what they outline is not a pretty picture.
