My favourite countries for red wine are:

France (Bordeaux specially Medoc, St. Emillion, Graves),

Spain (Rioja)

and for White wine:

Germany (Müller Thurgau, Riesling)

Spain (Cava)

Israel is for red wines also very good, but I have tried only a few bottles so it is "non-competitive" so far. But it has great potential imo.

Simple. Just go to the country that drinks the most wine. Italy.

Napa valley shall be very good, but it is not so common in Europe.

I have bought some bottles from California, but I was disapointed. It tastes chemical. But perhaps you must know the right vineyards in order to get good wine.

Im partial because I live 10 min from Napa... There are many good wines from Northern California...

I think Chile makes excellent wines. I like Lindemans also, which is from Australia.

I think Israeli wines. I paid only ca. 7 Euro for an excellent bottle. For this quality it is cheap.

Yes South America, specially Chile, Argentinia and Brasil are main importers to Europe. You can buy this wines in nearly all wine stores.

But you are right I forgot South Africa.

I think Israel. This is also part of the reason why all the Russian non-Jews enjoy Israel soo much. They say that wine is cheaper then water there. It's a shame though that in addition to that they dump a lot of the products into the sea.

I love red California wines, Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara and the rest from Northern California. My second choice are French Bordeaux.

White wine from Germany is very good. But only the dry one. It is very good to cooked carp, Makarel and codfish. Imo the only wine that fits 100 % to this dishes.

The Britains and Dutch like it very much.

But to be sincere, it is not world class.

Has anyone tried British wine? There are only a few vineyards, but they should be not so bad. But I never got a bottle from there to try.

BONTERRA Chardonnay.... very GOOD. Organic.

Thank you Paulette for the advise

I will look it up. Perhaps I am able to order a few bottles. I prefer organic, because the taste is in many cases more clear.

Plus I don't like blend or if they use the whole possibilities of modern wine cellar-technic.

Israel hands down. Yardin made in the Goaln Heights is the best there are some many blends
