Sarah Palin is Governor of Alaska
By Cathryn Friar
Meet Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska. She is often rumored as being on John McCain’s “short list” of possible Vice Presidential running mates. Read her biography, see photos and a video of her below.

Sarah Palin
Official Portrait

Sarah Palin is both the youngest and the first female governor in Alaska’s relatively brief history as a state. She’s also the most popular governor in America, with an approval rating that has bounced around 90 percent.

This is due partly to her personal qualities. When she was leading her underdog Wasilla high school basketball team to the state championship in 1982, her teammates called her “Sarah Barracuda” because of her fierce competitiveness. Two years later, when she won the “Miss Wasilla” beauty pageant, she was also voted “Miss Congeniality” by the other contestants.

Sarah Barracuda and Miss Congeniality — interesting nicknames for an interesting woman. Fire and nice. A happily married mother of five who is still drop dead gorgeous. And smart to boot.

But it’s mostly because she’s been a crackerjack governor, a strong fiscal conservative and a ferocious fighter of corruption, especially in her own party that she enjoys such high marks from her constituency.

And she is unashamedly pro-life stating that “every innocent life has wonderful potential.” This played out in a real-life drama for Palin and her husband when in April of this year she delivered her 5th child who has Down Syndrome. She said this of her newborn son, Trig:

“I’m looking at him right now, and I see perfection. Yeah, he has an extra chromosome. I keep thinking, in our world, what is normal and what is perfect?”
She would be a decided asset and most certainly excite the base: an independent Republican governor, a woman, a fiscal conservative, a defender of life against the creeping culture of death and a fresh face in national politics.

Step up Senator McCain and choose Governor Sarah Palin as your running mate!

8.29.2008 UPDATE: There is huge speculation that Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska, is going to be McCain’s VP pick today. Romney and Pawlenty have been eliminated and word is that Palin left Alaska this morning under heavy guard.

There is more about Sarah Palin along with more photos here.

Stay tuned. We’ll keep you updated.

She sure is nicer to look at than Joseph Biden.  :::D
The city isn't what it used to be. It all happened so fast. Everything went to crap. It's like... everyone's sense of morals just disappeared. Bad economy made things worse. Jobs started drying up, then the stores had to shut down. Then a black man was elected president. He was supposed to change things. He didn't. More and more people turned to crime and violence... The town becomes gripped with fear. Dark times, dark times... I am the hero this town needs. I am... The Coon!!!

As long as she's very conservative then I think it's a good choice. There is one concern for me however. I have to wonder if McCain could get a dip from making what could be seen as a politically correct choice. I understand this is all about politics, but I think you guys know what I mean.

I don't care that she's a woman (that's a plus for me), I just wonder how McCain's choice will be viewed in light of whether he picked her BECAUSE she was a woman, or if he picked her for her qualifications. Was Mitt a more qualified person? That's what nags at me, and I think those questions might hurt McCain.

As much as I hate Hillary I think she got shafted. She should have been the democrat nominee. She's evil but she's not empty-headed like Obama.

Excellent choice. I think Romney had too much baggage- he could have been portrayed as a flip-flopper. Looks like the GOP is more "progressive" than them dems.

Too bad McCain will still lose.

Fiscally conservative and pro-life.  SOunds good.    Her foreign policy experience is not so relevant, since Mccaine will dominate in this area.

Well have fun voting for Obama.  O0

The country is already being swept up in a fervor for Obama. At this point, it doesn't matter who's right on what issues or who's qualified.

I am slowly accepting the fact that we must bow down and worship Barrack for the next 8 years.

You're too much of a righteous person to ever do anything like that, I believe you. It's just that by NOT voting for McCain, you are, in effect, voting for Obama anyway.

I may be wrong, but I believe this election will be very close. McCain needs all the support he can get. Nobody here likes McCain, or at least most JTFers don't like him. I HATE many things about him. However I'm holding my nose to vote for him because I can't let Obama win. Even though Texas is a red state anyway, as Chaim said people should vote for McCain in every state... not just so-called battleground ones.
