This really good movie about Billy Graham comes out on FRIDAY!!!!

I saw an ad on the tv today for this movie, it comes out on Friday:

"Billy, the Early Years"

Anyway, wanted to share in case anyone was interested.......

His wife just passed away recently but he is still going strong, It will be his 90th birthday this month.

I have seen the trailers playing the last few weeks. We defenitely intend to go see it.

I have mixed feelings on Graham. While one of the greatest evangelists of all time, there is great reason to doubt his stance on Jews. In 1972, he told Richard Nixon in a private meeting that "Jews are responsible for putting porn in society." If I am not mistaken, he has also advocated land-for-peace and said that Israel must negotiate with the Arabs. Chaim would know the particulars of this more than I would.

Also, in recent years he has made many theologically troubling statements (in an interview with Newsweek, he said he wants Christians to realize that issues like abortion and evolution are not that important in the end). Of course, this might be the result of dementia.

CF you don't like anybody.      I think I once said something negative about "Jews", having worked for one for some time. I do agree that BG got somewhat liberal at the end. Although I think a lot of it had to do with his handlers and them wanting him to appeal to a larger audience ($$$$). I don't have the full context but if I remember correctly it was in regards to the entertainment industry which at that time and still does have quite a large number of Jews (in name only), I really don't think too many of them are religous Jews.

Now I would readily agree that Franklin Graham is not 1/100 the man his father is and never will be. I have never been too impressed with either one of his children. But he is defenitely one of the greatest revivalists of modern times. Due to the advantages of advances in technology, travel and communication he even outperformed the likes of Billy Sunday and D.L. Moody.

So he worshiped the idol called the mighty dollar. I guess that makes him righteous in the eyes of Hashem.



Not sticking to the core principles of your faith is called hypocrisy. Dont modify the message to make it palatable to the wicked. There is nothing special about having a congregation filled with wicked men. A true tzadik is one who can bring the truth to those who dont know they want to hear it. Only the truth can be called faith.

PS: Read Torah portion Hazinu and learn what Moshe said to the children of Israel to learn what a true Prophet and Tzaddik said to his congregation. He did not pull any punches and rebuked them for he knew they would stray from Torah.

PPS: In retrospect he may have accomplished a lot of good. In that sense he may truly be righteous. I dont have much respect for the big congregation televangelists. There are too many people who are taken advantage of.

People from nearly every nation and cultural background are obviously involved in this. Porn is existing, florishing and polluting the minds of people even in countries were no or nearly no Jews live. I.e Japan, Korea, Skandinavia, etc.

I am sure we could all come up with things we like or hate about Billy Graham.

I just thought a movie about his life would be good and a good faith builder, etc.

He turns 90 this month and his wife passed away a few months ago.

Whatever he said or didn't say is between him and G-d, because he will have to stand before G-d like the rest of us, one day.
