should the forum stay open everyday until elections?
« on: October 22, 2008, 07:25:43 PM »
I think these elections may constitute a life-threatening emergency and should warrant the forum staying open on Shabbat and any holidays.

Is this halachically acceptable?

When you have a situation like this?

I wouldn't say this is on par with Hitler/Germany, but still...

I would not want to see us acting like fools who are more afraid of violating the shabbat than saving lives.

I think working to stop Obama from taking the highest office us the U.S. may take precedence.

There could be massive riots, martial law or something of this nature in the next few weeks.

I want to be informed every minute until the elections of any new developments and I would not want JTF to be offline if something important happened over the weekend.

Thoughts?

I am not an expert and want to hear some arguments for/against.

I dont think the forum should be opened on Jewish holidays bc all of the admins are not on to watch the forum.
