This election has radicalized a lot of white people, even those who were not racist before. And its not because of Obama himself, either.
Its because of the people who voted for him (blacks and guilty white liberals). White people finally saw proof that most blacks voted based on racial lines. The final evidence was Colin Powell endorsing Obama. This is a man, who, though he is a RINO (Republican in name only), usually voted Republican nonetheless.
Yet he endorsed a Democratic candidate that deep inside he knows will destroy this country (as most former Secretary of States also know, which was why they endorsed McCain), simply because he is black and Powell wanted to be on the bandwagon too.
I've always tried to be non-racist; some in my family were very racist and I used to debate it with them. I disliked my own mother because of her crude racism which embarassed and offended me. One reason I first became Republican was because I saw so much of that kind of crude racism coming from the Democrats in SP. I tried to be fair and impartial to all people.
My adopted grandmother was a black woman named Lula Cochran. I loved her more than my own mother, partly because she was so kind to me. My mother always warned me that "blacks will always stick together", but I pooh-poohed her. I saw her racism as ignorance from another era.
But now I see that my mother, as crude as her views were, was right. Many white people are also seeing it. Maybe this election was the wakeup call they all needed.
WE were accused of voting against Obama due to racism, even when we weren't. I have voted for black candidates before, provided they were conservative Republicans. And now we see that blacks accused us of racism because they knew THEY were voting based on race. They projected their own racism onto us.
I think white America got a good wakeup call. I know I did. I don't think I can ever look at another black person the same way again....because I will always wonder if they, like most of the others, placed their race before their nation on November 4th.
Because they were so eager to get a "black man" (really, a biracial man) elected, they overlooked his extreme left, socialist agenda and history.
They overlooked the fact that a childhood mentor of his was Frank Marshall Davis, Communist Party USA operative.
They overlooked the fact that one of his friends was William Ayers, terrorist and cop-killer, who stomped on the US flag in a famous photo of himself.
They overlooked the fact that even the white half of his family had leftist and Communist connections, hence Obama's grandfather's friendship with Frank M Davis.
They overlooked the fact that Obama has never denied being a socialist when asked.
They just didn't care about my country. They wanted a "black man" elected that badly.
So they will have to excuse me if I and millions of other white people no longer care about what they want, or their needs. I just wish my mother were still alive so I could tell her that yes, she was right all along.
