You got the past tense wrong.

It should be "They trod on..."

HAHAHA  I was wondering why my browser was saying the spelling is wrong.  But come on, no one says "trod"?   I think I'm just going to change the whole thing to "stomped".

People do say trod.

But I agree, stomped is better.. if people really aren't that familiar with these things.
