Palestinians resistance Hamas movement says its activists will hit Israeli troops hard and the Gaza Strip will turn out to be their graveyard. "Your incursion into Gaza will not be a walk in the park and Gaza will become your cemetery God willing," Hamas spokesman Ismail Radwan noted as he read a statement on Hamas's Al-Aqsa television network.
Addressing Israelis, the Hamas official added, “You do not have any other choice but to unconditionally end the aggression and lift the blockade. You will not enjoy security as long as our people don't have any.”
Radwan made the remarks shortly after Israel launched a ground offensive in Gaza late Saturday.
The ground incursion occurred in the enclave following a week of aerial and naval bombardment of the Gaza Strip. While only six Israelis have died and 16 have been wounded since last Saturday, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have left over 2,300 Palestinians injured and at least 460 dead including many women and children.
Meanwhile, Hamas's armed wing vowed that Israel would pay a 'high price' for the ground operation it launched on the Gaza Strip
“The enemy will pay a high price for its operation in northern Gaza Strip,” a statement from Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades broadcast on Al-Aqsa television station said.
Hamas had earlier warned Israeli forces that Gaza would not be paved with flowers for them; rather it will be paved with fire and hell.
Hamas has long prepared for Israel's invasion by means of digging tunnels and rigging some areas with explosives.
