Will (working, taxpaying) Californians wake up?  (I'm talking about the liberal Californians who actually work and pay taxes i.e. pay the $millions JUST for ONE Californian welfare family.

IVF and other artificial ways to have children NOT a good idea.
  Aside from the moral arguments, there are MANY reasons why: for example, what happens to the "surplus" embryos?  Ok, in this case the mother didn't murder them.  In most cases they're discarded or indefinitely frozen.  Cool.  40 years down the line, someone un-freezes the embryo, implants it and gives birth to a girl who grows up and marries the son of a man who was the product of a sperm and egg donation which just happened to be the same sperm which fertilized the girl's mother's egg.  Got that?  The girl marries her nephew.
Or to make it more simple, the sperm of certain donors are highly sought after.  i.e. "Harvard Law Grad,' High IQ, tall, whatever.  So the guy has fathered COUNTLESS (remember, this is all done with STRICT anonymity) children all over the US.  Problems will again arise.

As Ann Coulter states, children should have both fathers and mothers, not mothers and sperm donors.
If you can't physically have kids, adopt.
If you aren't married, don't have sex and don't get pregnant.

I only want to adopt if I have kids, but it's G-d's ultimate will, not mine.

That being said, I don't care what size family one chooses to have if they are in a responsible, fiscally stable marriage that can afford them.

Generally I oppose IVF period, but I consider multiple implantations especially abominable.

I was so livid about this I actually called Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Bellflower, they connected me to the PR dept and I began to complain about this and asked who was paying for everything. The PR woman I spoke to told me the Mother had kaiser Insurance through her job
and it was not being paid for by the State. Now I am hearing contradictory statements verifying she has been on public assistance.
I hope the doctor who planted the 8 eggs loses his license. As for the State providing her with public assistance I am outraged.
I wish I had the time and money to sue the State of California for taking my tax dollars to use in such a gross manner.

It's not personal, it's just that I have a whole lot of reasons that would take forever to explain, some of which very few people would ever understand. One reason is that I believe, as a Christian (I know Judaism does not share this view, at least in the same way), that we are living in the last days and that we might as well spend our resources and efforts on the millions of children worldwide, and in our country, who do not have parents, love, or the knowledge of G-d rather than making more babies.

Other reasons
--Pregnancy freaks me out, my mother had a crisis pregnancy and nearly died
--I believe we are overpopulated (yeah, technically maybe we are not, but I think quality-of-life issues like traffic, competition for jobs and natural resources, urban sprawl, loss of natural habitats, etc. are very important)

Note--I know Judaism would not agree with any of the above; I am merely outlining my own beliefs and convictions for myself.

On the SLIGHTLY related topic of adoption, children around the world who need help, and your other posts on actresses, it is the main reason I applaud Angelina Jolie.  She is a freak, for sure, and psychotic, and a fraud BUT
she has adopted children from poor countries, and has used her fame to increase awareness of adoption.  She has a large family, something which liberal hollywood still can't get over.  OK, she is not married (and has been married twice already) and has a very sordid past, BUT
I like how she fights hollywood's notion of "normal" which includes sexual deviance BUT frowns upon large families...
especially since jennifer aniston [AKA plain-jane-permanent-part-down-the-middle-of-her-boring-hair-40-year-old-talentless-"I WILL NOT HAVE CHILDREN because I am a selfish woman who thinks she can not have a "career" if she has children and is more concerned about her physique than she is about creating a wonderful family with her loving then-HUSBAND who wanted to have children with her Brad Pitt]
