http://www.ktvb.com/news/localnews/stories/ktvbn-mar1109-kerry_stephen_thomas.26928933.htmlBOISE - He was the first person in Idaho convicted of knowingly spreading the HIV-AIDS virus – now, more than a decade later Kerry Stephen Thomas, 45 is once again facing those same charges.
In the 1990s Thomas’ case was a landmark one which sent Thomas to prison for several years.
At the time, he was well-known as a former BSU basketball player. He then became notorious for intentionally having sexual relations without revealing he was infected with the HIV virus.
He was first accused of these crimes in 1990, but reached a plea agreement for the lesser charge of statutory rape, for which he served time and was released on parole.
In 1996 he was convicted of purposely transferring the AIDS virus.
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison -- 7 years fixed.
After serving his time, Thomas is once again out on parole -- and according to the Ada County Prosecutors has once again committed the same crime.
Thomas is listed as a registered sex offender with the State of Idaho.
If convicted on these latest charges, Thomas could face life in prison as a "persistent violator."
