I have to admit I've always really thought that Beetles are cute cars. When I see one I think of Herbie the love bug, or Max (the Beetle with the microphone in the commercials) speaking in a comedic accent. It's hard for me to make a mental connection between those fun things and the nightmarish horrors of the Holocaust.
I agree with you that there is no excuse for what the VW company did during the Nazi era though and I understand completely why you don't want people to buy them. Thanks for answering my question.
I have a similar view of the company Chemie Grunenthal. After the Thalidomide issue I think they should have been put out of business even though they continued to develop pain medicines.
