Newsweek Cover Story -- The Case For Killing Granny
« on: September 15, 2009, 01:18:57 PM »
Last night, I was in a news stand in Penn Station killing some time before my train came when the cover of Newsweek caught my eye.  The exact title of the cover story was "The Case For Killing Granny."  Here's a link to the article:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/215291/output/print

The article is written by Evan Thomas, who has gone on the record as saying that Obama is a "sort of g-d."  And he goes on about how pesky senior citizens are costing us so much money, and how they just need to be put into hospices with some pain killers to tide them over.

Anyway, I got so mad from looking at that cover and reading the article that I decided to write to Mr. Thomas.  I haven't sent it out.  I want to get feedback from you guys.  So please let me know what you would add or remove from this letter:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Mr. Thomas:

They say that prostitution is the world's oldest profession, with
politics coming in at a close second, according to Ronald Reagan.  Now
as much as l liked Ronald Reagan, I'm going to have to disagree with
him on that.  I believe that mainstream media journalists such as
yourself are in the second oldest profession.  At least that's what I
thought when I saw the latest issue of Newsweek where you (lamely)
made the case for "killing granny."

The fact is, you mainstream media people are NOT objective.  This past
presidential campaign has shown how blatantly you people are in the
tank for Obama.  But thanks to the internet and the blogs, many people
no longer believe your propaganda.  After all, it was Newsweek that
published that phony story about a koran supposedly being flushed down
a toilet.

Anyway, Obamacare is all over the news now.  Quite a few Democratic
politicians have been getting chewed out by voters who are tired of
being milked like cows, yet still, they and your beloved Obama remain
undeterred. If Mr. Obama wants it, then you, Mr. Thomas act as his
pimp and press agent.  I see that in the same issue where you make the
case for killing granny, there's article on why illegal aliens should
get health insurance.  Your liberal world view is so warped that you
see no contradiction between giving insurance to people who shouldn't
be in this country to begin with, and killing off American senior
citizens, who have worked and paid taxes for years, and who have
followed the law.

Now before you start pontificating that your job as a journalist is to
be objective, spare me.  We know that's a complete lie, being that
most media people vote Democrat. More importantly, you've gone on the
record saying that Obama is a sort of god.  It's right here:

Anyway, getting back to your article on why killing granny is a good
idea, the gig is up.  You clearly don't just want equality of
opportunity, you want equality of outcome.  And since not everyone is
equal or the same, you would force mediocrity on all Americans in
health care and other areas.  For you, sacrificing old people is just
fine as long as it's good for the collective.  In that case I only
hope that when you get older and infirm, some government bureaucrat
deprives you of all health care.  Judging by the looks of you, that
day doesn't seem to be too far off.

Sincerely,

Lisa

Minor edit: "...there's an article on why illegal aliens should
get health insurance."

This is quality.

The only way to prevent public health care from becoming as big a boondoggle as Social Security is to force the House and Senate to be included, rather than the gold-plated system that they have.  And if so, then we can start 'killing granny' by lining up all the tired old farts who keep getting re-elected.

Too bad that we're too late for Ted Kennedy.

The original article is despicable, and I don't think he would feel the same way about executing criminals because of the costs of keeping them in prison with food, TV, and all the other prison amenities.  The only reason he wants to kill granny is the same reason liberals want every other innocent person killed.  (They support terrorists killing innocent people, they support babies being killed in the womb, etc.)  I'd like to see a response to this in Newsweek entitled "The Case for Killing Evan Thomas"

The response letter is good to go.

Dan Ben Noah, I don't mean to sound thick or ignorant, but why do you think liberals want innocent people killed?  I think I would like to give Mr. Thomas your example of not executining murderers despite the costs of keeping them in prison with food, cable television, internet, etc. Is this just another example of being merciful to the cruel?

Awesome response letter Lisa! God bless you!

I think in order to counter this stuff we need some numbers on how to reduce medical costs without eliminating end of life care or health care for elderly people.

I've read on other blogs that the 47 million uninsured number the Dems keep throwing around is false.  Quite of few of them are illegal aliens.  Under Obamacare, they'll be covered.  Now the Dems are insisting that's not the case.  However, they killed a measure that would have required proof of citizenship for treatment.

Another part of this group of uninsured people is college students and unemployed people.

I'll see what numbers I can find on other blogs.

That's good Lisa. We also need real solutions for how to cut medical costs. Tort reform as mentioned in the article is one solution. We need to think of ways to reduce medical costs for elderly people too without denying them needed care.
