Yes.

I am troubled by the amount of people on that site in the comments thread who are attacking the rabbi.   They should be attacking Michael Jackson.  If anything the Rabbi tried to portray him in a positive light, probably because he considered him a friend and cares about Jackson, and wants the public to perceive him positively or a more personal side of him.   He fails because there is no way to see Jackson positively, even if most of his problems were the fault of his abusive father.   Still, nobody forced Michael Jackson to to be an antisemite.    He can't blame that on his dad.   The nose, the skin changes, etc, touching little boys?  Yeah his dad is partially to blame for beating him as a kid.    But not for everything.

I'd be curious to know what's in the book. Even though he was evil in many ways, I always felt as if Michael Jackson's life was a living hell from beginning to end and I think that's sad that any human being had to go through that. I also am sorry that his father outlived him. Joe Jackson should have been dead already and not been able to smile like a Chesire cat after his son's death.

The part where I said there is no way to see MJ positively?   You think there is?

I haven't understood why so many people here seem to hate Rabbi Boteach. I do not know much about him, but the few editorials I've seen from him are right-on, and he seems to be a sincere Zionist.

I think the rabbi sets a bad example by befriending MJ despite all the immoralities and antisemitism he expressed and promoted. Now it seems the rabbi is cashing out which goes to show he might have personal financial motives to be friends with MJ and legitimize the freak.

Perhaps. But I think ROY is way worse for actually having the nerve to try to use Torah to justify land-for-peace suicide.

I think ROY made a terrible mistake. On the theoretical level, I am not qualified to dispute his claim that it is justifiable to trade land for peace.

I agree with this... Some Rabbis do get famous because of the people who they associate with... I dont have any bad feelings toward Rabbi Boteach about this issue.

I don't understand this sentence - are you saying that MJ pedophilia and insane behavior is partially attributed to the corporal punishment he received at the hands of his father. Would a certain dose of the said punishment also be partially responsible for the success that MJ enjoyed?

Shmuley, to me, looks like a version of modern JDL - a Hollywood court Jew.

I guess your a tzaddik in order to judge like this...

What is the purpose to slander the Rabbi? Because you feel better? Does this constitute honest rebuke?

PS: I have disagreed with some of his ideas but I don't publicly humiliate him.

Let us just say that Shmuley is not a member of NK... Those 'rabbis' are violently anti-zionist... What I have read of Rabbi Boteach is that he is always pro-Israel. The fact that he has people who are attracted to him who are not very good is not his fault.

I do think it is not in good taste to publish this book at this time. It certainly does seem to be a case of capitalizing on his 'friends' demise.

I agree with Manch 100%.

I cannot believe that anyone here is a defending a "rabbi" who sought to make Michael Jackson "kosher" after he raped little boys and then sought to blame the Jews for his evil perversions. Michael Jackson was the scum of the earth - a black Sodomite child rapist who used "music" to spread immorality and wickedness to hundreds of millions of people.

After the revelations of Michael Jackson's raping of little boys, the swine Shmuel Boteach held a press conference to pronounce Jackson innocent and to state that he (Boteach) would trust Jackson with his own children. Obviously, the whore Boteach did this for the money, and his crime of trying to whitewash this monster is absolutely unforgivable.

Boteach also has written books that completely contradict Torah law in which he whitewashes prostitution, fornication and homosexuality. He became a multimillionaire and a darling of the Bolshevik news media and Hollywood by promoting his obscene distortions of Torah Judaism.

As evil as Michael Jackson is, Shmuel Boteach is much worse because he spreads evil to the masses in the name of Torah Judaism in order to further enrich himself.

Yes.  It is scientifically proven that kids who are abused grow up to be really messed up in the head, most often grow up to ABUSE OTHERS, but at very least it makes them mentally and psychologically unstable.   That's probably the biggest tragedy of abuse... It's cyclical.   Victims come to abuse others in the vast majority of cases.   Yes, that's science.   Do you somehow "disagree" with what's been proven true?

I agree that it is wrong to defend Jackson.

But I don't condone talking ill of Jews like this. While Chaims opinion is certainly valid I also think it is best to give the benefit of the doubt in most cases. We all have a tendency to forgive those close to us for things which are not acceptable. A Rabbi who is respected is one who can tell the truth all the time. While this reflects a flaw on his part I also admit that this Rabbi has done a lot of good.

I realize that this Rabbi is not with our agenda, and he rationalizes things... But this is the way that all humanity is, no Rabbi is claiming to be perfect.

Ultimately there is only Hashem to judge us. As we learned on Yom Kippur we are all judged according to our abilities, the more gifts a person is given and he/she squanders it will be judged more harshly. I will reserve judgement on him till the day he repents. I do not join in cursing him.

I also did not know this.   I've only seen some of his articles on jpost.com which I usually don't like, his "debates" with Hitchens and other atheists where he tries to defend belief in God (I usually also do not like when he does this), and I saw how he stood up to Qadaffi, which I did like.

That may be true, but based on the comments to that article, normal good Jews will suffer because people view him as representative of all Jews somehow and are trashing him for the book and what they perceive as "attack" on their cult hero Jackson.

I believe I understood what he said.

IMO He is saying that antisemites will look at this Rabbi and say that all Jews are like this. To give them fodder for such comments is not in the best interest of the Jewish people.

Well, I was talking about the article linked in this thread in the first post, it was an article about this where Shmuley talks about his book and then comments at the bottom by the viewers of the site... Lots of them were calling him a dirty Jewish shyster who is capitalizing on Michael's success and pretending to be michael's friend, and an "enabler" who did not stop his drug addiction...   They were angry that Michael Jackson wouldn't want this info public, so how dare he....
