Even Holder Admits It's A War By Rabbi Yaakov Spivak
It’s hard not to be puzzled, baffled, confused. The Obama Administration’s Attorney General, Eric Holder, admits before a Congressional committee that we are at war. That war was started on 9/11 by Al Qaeda. That being the case, what is the argument for a civilian trial for the Gitmo combatants? By his own admission THEY ARE WAR CRIMINALS!!! War criminals are tried in a military tribunal, not in civilian courts.
Can you imagine if the Nuremburg trials of Nazis were held under the relatively pro-defendant rules of a civilian court? Ex-post-facto pleas would have been submitted by defense lawyers. Julius Streicher could have been acquitted. Herman Goering could have gotten off scot free.
Mister Attorney General: What jurisdiction does a civilian court have over a military matter?
Why are you jeopardizing the welfare and safety of hundreds of thousands of people in Manhattan by turning this vital business and cultural area into an armed camp under siege by crazy suicide bombers?
If the trial has to be in the US and not Gitmo, have it in the Mojave Desert.
Former Governor Pataki is against it being in New York, former Mayor Giuliani is against it being in New York, former US Attorney General Mukasey is against it being in New York, present Governor Patterson is against it being in New York, and most important, the majority of New Yorkers are against it being in New York.
What arrogance on your part, Mr. Holder! What arrogance on your part Mr. Obama!
Hopefully, Congress can reverse this attempt at creating a dangerous circus.
Shoving a frightening scenario down the throat of an unwilling populace is not only undemocratic, in its own way it is also a form of terrorism.
