High Court Rejects Petition Demanding Shalit Deal Info
« on: December 01, 2009, 08:39:55 AM »
The High Court has rejected a petition by the Almagor Terror Victims' Association demanding that information on the apparently impending deal to release some 1,000 terrorists from Israeli prisons in exchange for kidnapped IDF solider Gilad Shalit be revealed. The petitioners said that the government's plan – to release the details of the terrorists to be released in the deal 48 hours before the exchange – was contrary to the practice in other recent similar exchanges. The fact that Israel's enemies had more information than Israelis about what was going on was untenable, the petition said.

The court said that while it sympathized with the petitioners, it could not intervene in decisions relating to sensitive security issues. "These decisions are in the hands of the elected officials, and they are on the shoulders of the government. We can nothing other than try to ensure that the decisions they make are arrived at properly, and that they give equal weight to all of the issues involved, including the rights of families whose loved ones were hurt or killed in terror attacks to object," the court said in its decision.

The banding together by the nations of the world against Israel is the guarantee that their time of destruction is near and the final redemption of the Jew at hand.
