I am so excited!! Thank God, I'm going to move to the Holy Land in about two months from now... I strongly wish I could join the army there, I really want to serve Israel... and the IDF is one of the best armies in the world (it is the best in the Middle East, that's for sure!) I surved in the U.S Navy, and I want to serve in the IDF too!
But my Hebrew is terrible!!! Damn it! and the language is too difficult!.. I speak 5 different languages, so it shouldn't be a big deal, but, it is! somebody can help?

I don't have a fluent Hebrew. I can understand a lot.. And I can speak a little but it ain't enough! I must learn more. There are many soldiers from Russia, South America or France who don't speak Hebrew, there are special courses in the IDF. and I got an apartment when I was there. Now I wanna go back and join the IDF again. i wanna be an officer. There's a 8 month course... i hope i succeed. Cuz my hebrew is indeed terrible!

Hey well, that's good. At least you can understand a great deal. I am a physician and I don't speak a work of Hebrew so I couldn't move to Israel. I have thought about it. I think about it more and more, but I think the language barrier would be so intense given my profession

Congratulations Edward! the IDF would be lucky to have you. 5 languages is a huge asset! You could interrogate foreigners! Have a safe trip and keep in touch with us ok?

5 languages is impressive!

I have found that drawing cartoons helps bridge a gap when speaking with people who I do not share a language with.

I would like to live in Israel too, but the job situation there is terrible. I'm a teacher, and teaching there pays next to nothing. I would still do it, but my wife isn't convinced.

You are absolutely right, Israel is the true homeland for evrey Jew. It is so great that another Jew is about to return from the exile!

Hebrew is not difficult at all. True, its script and grammar are a bit unusual for those who speak European languages, but after some effort you'll discover both its simplicity and great power of expression.

It's extremely hard for Anglos/native English speakers who aren't fluent in Hebrew to find a good job there. However, if you work with computers, technology and/or engineering, there are alot of well-paying jobs there.
