Iran's navy to break gaza blockade

In my opinion, Israel would have to sink the iranian ships. Otherwise it would be viewed as completely weak and we could see a total Iranian invasion of Israel.

I agree.  But I hope it doesn't come to this.  A surprise attack on Iran's nuclear sites is much better.  Quite frankly, I'm a nervous wreak over the whole thing.  As I see it, Israel waited too long.  Much, much too long.  Menachem Begin would never have allowed Iran this much time to prepare for the destruction of Israel.  I just have to continue to believe that the Israeli's know a lot more than I do about their future and have prepared accordingly.  But even the way they boarded that ship recently makes me very suspicious.

So far all that Netanyahu has proven to the world is that he's a coward who will crawl in front of Israel's enemies.

He speaks beautiful English, but when under pressure he caves.

The Mediterranean is not the place for dirty Iranian ships to be! Even less near the Israeli coast. I hope that the ships will be stopped by Egypt before passing Suez...

I think the Iranians are bluffing. Because they know that the chances of a military confrontation between the Iranian navy and the Israeli navy would then be very high. And the Iranian ships would be sunk.
And it is unclear to me why they would want to start a war with Israel right now. At the moment, they are busy advancing their nuclear program, with Obama's and Netanyahu's blessings.

Iran's military shall not be aiding the ships.

Iran backing off that military escort for Gaza aid ships

I guess Iran doesn't want to give Israel any excuses to come after its nuclear facilities.

The first Iranian aid ship to Gaza left on Sunday - without a military escort.

One ship left port on Sunday and another will depart by Friday, loaded with food, construction material and toys, the report said. The boats would be part of international efforts to break Israel's isolation of the Gaza Strip.

    ...

A senior Iranian official said earlier Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards were ready to provide a military escort to aid ships heading to Gaza if Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei so commands.

But the Guards' deputy head, Hossein Salami, said there were no plans to do so. "Such a thing is not on our agenda," he was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency on Monday.

Any such military mobilisation would risk a major confrontation with Israel, which fears Iran's nuclear enrichment programme is aimed at developing atomic bombs.[/i]

They know that Israel would sink their ships.  That's why Iran backed off.

Now the IDF suspects ships could come from Lebanon, which leaves little time to stop them :

http://www.jpost.com/Israel/Article.aspx?id=178694

It is time Israel declared a war zone off Gaza and warned any ship that enters it will be sunk without further warning. Otherwise Israel might become inundated with ships coming from all directions.
