I think it's a bad idea.

Anything universal is a bad idea because it means the taxpayer will have to foot the bill for the 'economically underprivileged'.
Exactly in the district where I live it was in the form of some very hefty property tax increases for pre k schooling which is basically the same thing.

Yes.  It's also pointless because people learn to walk, talk, etc, at different times.  Not everyone is ready to attend a Pre-K program and many people wouldn't benefit from it.

I don't like Hillary but I don't dislike the idea of having a mandatory nursery school. I have a 2 year old (she'll be 3 soon) who has the cognitive abilities of a 5 year old. All of her sisters are older so she needs to be around children her age. Not all children learn at the same pace, but those who are cognitively ready should attend school if only to be around children who are their size who they can relate to.

Yep - that is who we need telling us what is good for our children.
Of course...I forgot that she wants a village to raise our children.
She wants to take away our influence.  Maybe we are not smart enough or PC enough to be a good influence on our own children.
Alot of parents I know would think that is a great idea - a babysitting service - so they can work or shop.  So they can give their children everything but what they actually need.
Nurturing.
Time to be children.
Children will be reading, writing and doing math their whole lives.
They only are children once.
If your child is so gifted and inclined there are plenty of pre K programs to send them to. Programs where you could make the choice about amount of time, social/religious teaching and emphasis on academics.
I would hate to be told I had to send my child at 3 or 4 years old off to mandatory preK.
If Hitlery becomes President - at birth - maybe she can issue each child a mandatory backpack with her book in it.  It is never too early to start.

What does that have to do with Hillary's plan?
It has a lot to do with her plan. There are many children who are ready at 3 years of age to attend school and be around children their own age. In my situation, my children are 16, 15, 11, 10 and 2. Nayomi has no one here her age to relate to like the other girls who see her as a pest sometimes. lol She needs to learn how to share with children her own age, and interact with children her own age. I don't see how that could be wrong.

That is your child - Why do you need Madame Hiliary to make that happen for her?

I'm not saying that it should happen, I'm saying that I wouldn't be disappointed if it did. There are schools on base here that Nayomi can go to at her age just as long as she's fully potty trained. I DON'T need Hillary to make anything happen for her. I was just saying that the manditory nursery school idea wasn't exactly a bad one.

I don't get it either. I have no idea what Imerica's talking about.

I was just offering my opinion and some anecdotal info.

We hear what you are saying, but Hillary is an evil socialist communist.  I know this isn't the 1950's, but she definitely is part of the red scare...

Sure.  I didn't say I was against your daughter attending nursery school.  I meant that it shouldn't  be mandatory for everyone.

There will be other parents who will also send their kid to a nursery school.  Like you, they don't need Hillary mandating that they must do so.

Like I said, I don't like her. But I don't hate the idea. Especially for the black communities in which some children don't have any preparation before kindergarten. Education has changed over the years, so much so that kindergarteners are coming home from school with backpacks full of homework. All of this happened while we weren't looking. This is why I don't see a problem with putting children who are 3 and 4 years old in nursery school. Nursery schools aren't full of play anymore, children actually learn how to communicate with others there. They also learn how to write and some phonics without overburdening the kids with TOO much academics.

Who says there's a problem with 3 year-olds in nursery school? I was in nursery school as a 3 year-old.
There is no problem - I'm just saying it should not be mandatory.  It should be a choice.
