Looking for a speaker with knowledge/experience of Islam.

I'm looking to hold a pubic meeting in NSW Australia (in a town where a $6,000,000+ mosque is being proposed).  I'm looking for a speaker (doesn't have to be 'polished') who has lived as a non-Muslim in an Islamic state or has some other similar life-experience. I believe such a speaker would have more impact on the residents.
