Thoughts on politicians
« on: December 09, 2010, 11:55:02 AM »
Most of us reflexively feel negatively about politicians especially those we see as members of the political establishment.  I was discussing Israeli politics with my Orthodox nationalist Israeli friend.  We got on the subject of Aryeh Eldad.  He said that Eldad is a great man and that he was once romantically interested in Eldad's daughter (she chose someone else).  However, he stated that Eldad was too nice a guy to be elected Prime Minister and would probably languish as one of four National Union MKs indefinitely.

Is that just an unpleasant reality that professional politicians are the ones who will win elections and obtain high office.  Even in the last election how many upstarts ended up winning.  Miller in Alaska, Angle in Nevada, and O'Donnell in Delaware were all from way outside the establishment and could not win against unimpressive candidates.  The most notable upstart to win big was Ron Paul, who happens to be the son of a well known (if not meritorious) politician.  He learned what not to say to be labeled as a nut like his father.  He even avoided being openly anti Semitic or anti Israel like his father.

Are we just stuck with professional politicians?  Just as professional golfers win golf tournaments whould we just face the fact that professional politicians win elections?
We all need to pray for Barack Obama, may the Lord provide him a safe move back to Chicago in January 2,013.
