Attention JTFers: anybody familiar with house/dance music?
« on: January 07, 2011, 02:05:08 AM »
Hey JTFers,

Is anyone here well-versed in house/dance/club music, particularly from the mid-90s? If anybody here is, please PM me.

Thanks, TBF

The only 'trance' band I know is called Infected Mushroom... They are originally an Israeli band but have achieved some international recognition... I am not sure when they started, it may have been the 90s... According to the Wiki they started playing together in 1996...

Infected Mushroom is a psychedelic trance and electronic music group. Originally formed as a duo by Erez Eisen (also known as I.Zen) and Amit Duvdevani (also known as Duvdev) in the city of Haifa,[1] in northern Israel, the group has garnered a large international fanbase. Infected Mushroom is known for their consistent sonic evolution exemplified by the subsequent albums The Gathering (1999), Classical Mushroom (2000), B.P. Empire (2001), Converting Vegetarians (2003), IM the Supervisor (2004), Vicious Delicious (2007) and Legend of the Black Shawarma (2009). The group currently resides in Los Angeles.[1]

Actually I also know another 'trance' band called Ozric Tentacles, although they are more electronic rock...

Ozric Tentacles (also known as Ozrics) are an instrumental rock band from Somerset, whose music can loosely be described as psychedelic or space rock. Formed in 1984, the band has released 28 albums as of 2009, and become a cottage industry selling over a million albums worldwide despite never having major label backing.[1]

I think some of you are misunderstanding--this isn't hardcore electronica that I'm thinking of, but house (dance music of more urban origins).

Like "Technotronic" or "2unlimited"?

Trance and Electro are better than that stuff.
