They aired a story on FOX 5 News about a teacher that had students analyze a cartoon mocking illegal immigration. The father of one of the students, a Colombian immigrant, took offense, for some reason. Since those cartoons were mocking illegal immigration, the father was either a legal immigrant that had a mistaken sense of solidarity with the illegal alien settlers who are making legal immigrants such as himself look bad, or was himself an illegal alien settler. Anyway, there was a section in the FOX 5 web site titled "Soundoff", where viewers can post comments about the news story, and if lucky, can have them read on the air. Under the name Springbok, I was able to get my letter read (in bold):
I don't know if anyone has realized it yet, but those cartoons were mocking ILLEGAL immigration! I don't understand how legal immigrants could take offense. Besides, illegal immigrants, particularly from south of the border, are not even immigrants, since they don't want to become one of us, they are colonists who want to make America an extension of their home countries.
