Well, Bibi's much anticipated visit to the USA which included a meeting with President Zyklon B, and speeches to AIPAC and the Congress, is over.
It's time to grade his performance and consider the positive and negative aspects of it.
Of course, from a strictly JTF or Kahanist point of view one would have to be disappointed in Netanyahu. Here's the Israeli PM stating that he wants to negotiate with the arch terrorist, holocaust denying Abu Mazen. The supposed 'hard liner' is willing to make 'generous concessions' in pursuit of an unattainable 'peace'. The 'right wing' PM talks about a 'Palestinian' state as if it's something to be desired and a fait accompli. YIKES !
But it wasn't all bad.
Netanyahu did a decent job of emphasizing that the 1967 'Auschwitz' lines are indefensible and that Israel can not go back to them. He did a good job stating that the 'refugee' problem would have to be solved outside of Israel's borders.
Of course, what he says and what he'll actually do are two completely different things, but at least his lip service had a good ring to it.
You'd be surprised how Netanyahu is adored by commenters on conservative blogs for facing down President Osama. He's viewed as the consumate statesman and an eloquent orator.
Perhaps the best thing that came of Netanyahu's visit is that for all intents and purposes the 'peace process' (more realistically described as Israeli national suicide) is still dead in the water. Even Osama had to admit that it was ridiculous to expect Israel to negotiate with a 'Palestinian' authority that includes Hamas. Netanyahu played this card well, and unless Abbas backs out of his deal with Hamas, don't expect any 'face to face' talks soon. For the time being, that's very good news.
Expect the status quo until the summer and then it's time to deal with the UN.
