Bob Turner and David Weprin will go head to head at a Candidates' Forum
sponsored by the Queens Civic Congress on Monday, August 22 at
the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills, 70-11 150 Street at 7:30PM. A panel
of reporters from the Daily News, Queens Tribune and Queens Ledger
will question the candidates on Social Security,the Middle East, the debt
crisis and more as the race for the 9th Congressional district seat grows
tighter by the day.
The Queens Civic Congress, an umbrella group of more than 110 major Queens
neighborhood groups, is sponsoring the forum because,
QCC president Patricia Dolan says, the race may well be decided in central
Queens where residents come out to vote in elections--even special
elections. These Queens neighborhoods are home to large numbers of Jews
who may focus on on Israel and the Middle East.
The neighborhoods are also heavily populated by elderly voters for whom
Social Security and Medicare may be key issues.
The QCC candidates fotum is a public event and the organization urges all
interested voters to come out for a provocative and challenging evening.
