If someone wants to convert to another religion I think maybe they weren't that attached to their original one or held it nominally. This isn't always the case but it often is. Liberalism teaches that "there are many right ways", etc. as in there is no right or wrong or true or untrue, it's all relativistic. So that's why I think you see a lot of famous people trying on different religions like clothing.
