I'm probably going to catch a lot of [censored] for this but I don't care. I hope the United States does become a communist country. It is no coincidence that the biggest opposition to socialist/marxist/progressive policies in the US comes from people who immigrated here from current or former communist countries. They have lived the horror and don't want to see it repeated in the US. Unfortunately, the problem with American leftists is that they believe in a theoretical, academic version of communism. Since they won't take it upon themselves to move to a communist county, even while they tout the benefits of communism over capitalism, then perhaps the next best thing is to bring communism to this country for a period of time and let them live under that system. Maybe then we can eradicate this philosophy that had failed everywhere that it's been tried to date.

HiWarp, I supposed that I can grasp a line of thought that the United States deserves some sort of 'chastening', and the God of the Tanach does indeed work that way.  But make no mistake, it would be more horrifying than we can imagine to install Marxism in the United States even temporarily, as in tens of millions of lives, because there would first be a civil war.

I'm aware of no nation that has undergone a communist revolution when the citizenry held hundreds of millions of firearms and hundreds of billions of rounds of ammunition.  Many cliche democrat voters will readily embrace chains for comfort (sic), but when those Tea Party/ NRA types shout, "from my cold dead hands', they're not joking.

If communists were to attempt to take over this country via violent revolution, you are correct. It would either never happen or, if it did, the price paid in blood would be immense. But remember that revolution is not the only way. Communists can be voted into office over a long period of time as it has become apparent over the last half century. It's apparent to me anyway but I guess not so apparent to many voters today.

If the poverty and/or the socialist money grabbing surpasses a critical limit, then there are increased chances that communism can be voted to the power in any nation.

I dunno.   I can see communism spreading in Europe... but its hard to imagine it would take hold in the U.S.   But who knows... when we run out of money... crazy things can happen.

I'm glad you said "when" instead of "if". Unfortunately I think a lot of people are stuck in an "if" mind frame and are under the impression that what is happening in Europe can't happen in the US.

That's one of the few things I can predict with absolute certainty.    There is simply no way our politicians have the will to turn this around before its too late.

I just heard a statistic that 40% of people under 30 have favorable views of socialism... that is a very bad sign indeed.

Why should politicians do anything about it when the people that elect them don't want to hear it. Do you think any politician who seriously stands up for government spending cuts, real cuts not the cuts in proposed spending nonsense, is going to get elected? We allowed them to take over academia and the news media, we elected politicians who have all but eliminated peoples' responsibility to themselves and their families and then we are surprised that 40% of people under 30 favor socialism? That's because 40% of people under 30 are lazy pieces of crap that don't want to work and were never taught any kind of work ethic their entire lives by their religiously relative parents so they want a system that will enable them to legally steal from other people.

It's an age group with some crazy ideas for sure... In the work place the day they come on the job they want everything anyone else is getting starting from yesterday...There is no concept of job seniority ...The expect to be made whole on every issue... There is no paying of work place dues with this group... They want the pie split in equal parts  or they would be happier sitting home unemployed... The shvartza Presidents endless unemployment program is tailor made for this demographic...  At times I wonder if we actually don't need some of the illegals with younger American workers like this.
