A lot of people who take voice classes end up with a British sounding accent. The same thing happened to Madonna.

I think the singing accent of many artists even from Britain sounds more American then British.

But Madonna and Katy Perry were both married British guys for a while and so began to speak in Aristocratic elitist dialect, even though they are otherwise very trashy.

I noticed that too, that the singing voices of British singers tend to sound more Americanized. I wonder why? I do think that you and JTFE are right that certain celebrities take on a British sounding accent in order to sound elitist.
