Gender Identity Disorder has been dropped from the DSM and replaced with "Gender Dysphoria". It was due to calling it a disorder not being politically correct. This is not something that was done to best serve the people with the disorder but only to avoid "stigmatization" of calling it a disorder. This is just really unfair. Are they going to remove schizophrenia from the manual next time around because "schizo" has become a term of abuse sometimes?

So basically if you have gender dysphoria you're going to be told you don't have a disorder at all and you should embrace it, rather than any mainstream psychiatrist actually being willing to help you become more comfortable in your own skin.

The medical community has abadoned you. The only thing they offer is a mutilating, permanent surgery which results in permanent sterility, or hormonal treatments which likely increase the risk of cancer.

They offer nothing to actually treat the dysphoria itself.

I think the word "gender" is overused. It should be sex dysmorphia, transexual, just like it is heterosexual and not heterogendial.
