Unfortunately this is more common than you think, a lot of people end up trapped with drugs when traveling, there's cases where a drug smuggler will plant drugs in your suitcase after offering to carry them for you or sneak it in your back pocket, as you come out they will rob you and take the drugs off you and safely sell them for profit. Many times this creates a safety situation for the drug runners, and in other cases they intend you to get caught because of corruption in the airports where someone inside takes the drugs and confiscates them, then takes a portion to redistribute while charging you with the crime and you end up serving time in a foreign prison.
