A La Una Yo Naci
« on: August 17, 2013, 12:22:30 AM »

Celtic Mayhem performs the traditional 13th Century Sephardic love song "A La Una Yo Naci" at the 2009 Florida Renaissance Festival in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Enjoy

The language is Ladino. translated, the song says:

"At one I was born
At two I grew up
At three I took a lover
At four I married
I married a lover

Tell me little girl where do you come from
That I want to get acquainted
If you have no lover
I will defend you
Soul, life, and heart

Going off to war
I threw two kisses into the air
One is for my mother
The other is for you"
“It is a revolution; a revolution of the most intense character; in which belief in the justice, prudence, and wisdom of secession is blended with the keenest sense of wrong and outrage, and it can no more be checked by human effort for the time than a prairie fire by a gardener’s watering pot.”
