@Mord, my father is doing OK. He gets tired a lot, and his appetite is not the best. However, he did manage to make it to the Synagogue for Yom Kippur for a little while.

It is kinda funny that the day before Yom Kippur I had to go shopping at the supermarket. When the woman at the check-out asked me how my day was I told her it was spectacular and it was 'our holiday'. The woman didn't know about Yom Kippur and asked me if it was my birthday (apparently to some people a birthday is a holiday). I told her , "No it is our holiday" and she asked 'What kind of holiday' to which I replied 'A Jewish holiday'..

It must be great to have a birthday which falls out during the High Holiday season...

We don't say Tachanun on Lisa's birthday. It's also a quasi festival and we are commanded to have 2 meals and are forbidden to fast. If we have good meals on 9 Tishrei, it says it's as if we fasted both days (9 and 10 Tishrei).

The days between Yom Kippur and Sukkot are not Chol HaMoed. Chol HaMoed are actual festivals with Musaf. Chol HaMoed only refers to the days of Passover and Sukkot that are not Yom Tov. In Israel that are Days 2-6 (For Passover) and 2-7 (For Sukkot). Outside of Israel, it starts on Day 3.

These days between Yom Kippur and Sukkot are just regular days with no Tachanun like the whole month of Nissan and the rest of Tishrei after Simchat Torah.
The days after Shavuot are different because up to the 12th of Sivan, people could bring their Chagigah offering since Shavuot itself is only one day. Some also don't say Tachanun on the 13th outside of Isarel because of Sfeika D'Yoma.

Also, the First Temple inauguration was held for 7 days from before Yom Kippur to Sukkot and people actually were forbidden to fast on Yom Kippur that year. The Mishkan was inaguaarted in Nissan from Rosh Chodesh to 12 Nissan. So now can correspond to the period of Nissan before Passover (Also exactly 6 months apart.).

I stand corrected, indeed these days are not Chol HaMoed, as you explained Chol HaMoed is actually days between the Yom Tov days..
