Sing to Hashem a New Song...

1. Sing to the Lord a new song, sing to the Lord, all the earth.       א.
2. Sing to the Lord, bless His name, announce His salvation from day to day.       ב.
3. Tell of His glory among the nations, among all peoples His wonders.       ג.
4. For the Lord is great and very much praised; He is feared over all divine powers.       ד.
5. For all the gods of the peoples are nought, but the Lord made the heavens.       ה.
6. [They ascribe] beauty and majesty before Him; might and glory in His sanctuary.       ו.
7. Ascribe to the Lord, [you] families of peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and might.       ז.
8. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; carry an offering and come to His courtyards.       ח.
9. Prostrate yourselves to the Lord in the majestic sanctuary; quake before Him, all the earth.       ט.
10. Say among the nations, "The Lord has reigned." Also the inhabited world will be established so that it will not falter; He will judge peoples with equity.       י.
11. The heavens will rejoice and the earth will exult; the sea and the fullness thereof will roar.
12. The field and all that is therein will jubilate; then all the forest trees will sing praises.
13. Before the Lord, for He has come, for He has come to judge the earth; He will judge the inhabited world justly and the peoples with His faith.
You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

I am always reminded of the excerpt from Tehillim 96 which Matisyahu uses in the song 'Exaltation'...

Quote
Heavens rejoice and the earth will exalt
Oh no, come swing back like a catapult
The sea and its fullness will roar
He is our help and our shield our soul yearns for the lord
Burning God of Yaacov everlasting stronghold
Break down the door I can't hold back no more
Wait all night long, until the early morning
Like night watchmen wait for the dawning
You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

Thank Hashem for the luxury which we live in today, compared to the way our forefathers who struggled each day to survive. We live in a nation of such wealth and prosperity where even the poorest American lives with a standard of living above most others in the world. The abundance of food and technology today should make us so incredibly happy, and the way to express this happiness is through thanking the source of our blessing.

Here is the shuir from Rabbi Shafier of the Shmuz which gave me the idea for the above post...
