Why don't they just say Israel and the PLO? Why a need for a slash?
My guess is most people that use the term are Muslims or Leftists. Their goal is to delegitimize Israel as much as possible. The PLO, in context with Israel, sounds like a terrorist organization ( which it is. ). However, the term Palestine on the surface sounds like a legit entity or country, even though in this case it isn't.
