I am sorry I don't agree with you concerning the Catholic church. They do not support Israel, never have, and I doubt they ever will. Of course there are individual Catholics who may disagree with the church and support Israel, but I cannot agree with your final statement that the Catholics believe that Israel is the Jewish homeland.
Can you show me an example, if what you are saying is true.
The thing to be understood is that there are many different branches of Catholicism. There is Roman Catholicism, Melkite Greek Catholicism, Ukrainian Greek Catholicism (to which my father adheres), Maronite Catholicism, etc. Although the Pope has the last word on everything, that's for issues on which the Catholic Church has a unified position, as in birth control. So in reality, leftist Catholics who claim that Catholic Zionists go against the position of the Church are blatantly hypocritical, as the Catholic Church has no official position on the Israeli-Arab conflict yet it does on birth control- which it is against. Lebanese Greek Catholics are the group in Lebanon most sympathetic to Israel as a percentage, also Maronite military formations were allied with Israel in fighting "Palestinian" invaders. Members of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic University here in L'viv have been among those who have supported Israel the most out of any institution in the country (with the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church as a close second).
Even
this garbage (see page 88), written by a ragheadized "Christian", propaganda at it's finest for the islamobarbarians, has to admit that there are noticeable Zionist attitudes, albeit a minority, among Arabic-speaking Christians in the Holy Land- and Catholics represent the most of that. "Latins" (Roman Catholics) by percentage are just as anti-Israel and pro-raghead as the Orthodox, however, the vast majority of Arabic-speaking Catholics are Greek (aka. Eastern-Rite).
This is an explanation, from Zionist Catholics themselves, of why they support Israel.
