The Connection between the Jews and Jerusalem is deeply rooted and compelling. The tie is over three thousand ears old. When Arabs pray they face Mecca, when the Jews pray they face Jerusalem. For three centuries, Jews have ended each Passover meal with the pensive, "Next year in Jerusalem." In the words of Ehud Olmert, former mayor in 1993- 2002, "Jerusalem embodies "the purest expression of all that Jews prayed for, dreamed of, cried for, and died for in two thousand years since the destruction of the Second Temple."
The Arabs, on the other hand, have no real connection to Jerusalem other than that Muhammad visited it in a dream. The muslims can point to no holy place except the Dome of the Rock, which they built on the site of the Temple Mount, knowing it was sacred to the Jews. Jerusalem and Zion are mentioned 823 times in the Tanach and 161 times in the New Testament. IT IS POLITICS NOT HISTORICAL CLAIMS THAT MAKE JERUSALEM SUCH AN IMPORTANT ISSUE FOR ARABS.
JERUSALEM HAS KNOWN MANY FOREIGN RULERS DURING THE COURSE OF ITS HISTORY BUT NONE OF THEM REGARDED IT AS THEIR CAPITAL. ONLY THE JEWISH PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED IT AS THE SOLE CENTER OF ITS NATIONAL SPIRITUAL LIFE. FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS JEWS HAVE PRAYED DAILY FOR THEIR RETURN TO JERUSALEM, AND FOR THE PAST CENTURY AND A HALF, JERUSALEM HAS HAD A CONTINUOUS UNINTERRUPTED JEWISH MAJORITY. THE SPIRITUAL ATTACHMENT OF THE JEWS TO JERUSALEM HAS REMAINED UNBROKEN; IT IS A UNIQUE ATTACHMENT. THE THIRD TEMPLE IS GOING TO BE BUILD....IT IS THE LORD'S WILL. CHRISTIANS ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT TRUTH AND ARE NOT GOING TO BACK DOWN.
