One of the major reasons that Pollard is sitting in jail so far for 30 years, instead of the usual punishment of 2 to 4 years for spying for an ally is that the USA government sees that Israel has made suicidal concessions to free prisoners and is hoping that Pollard can be used as a bargaining chip to get Israel's Government to do something really harmful to Israel security interests.
One idea that might tempt Obama to pardon Pollard, is if he thought Pollard's release would significantly help Israel's left to do well in the elections with the thought that those Leftists will go along with all his pro-muslim agenda after the elections are over.
How could Pollard's release help the left? If Obama invited someone like Livni or Herzog to the USA and then pretended that he has such good relations with them as a favor to them, he will let Pollard go. Then Israel's media would wage an intensive propaganda campaign "How we have to elect someone who Obama likes, since he gets good results as opposed to Bibi".
My question to JTF is freeing Pollard so important, that it is worth helping the left by tempting Obama to go for this idea, such as, writing lots of letters and emails to him about the concept?
Or should we say even though it is important to get Pollard out but not at the price of strengthening the left? Or maybe since it is not clear that the phoney right does less damage than the open left, we don't have that much to lose?
