Don't know much about American politics, so could be wrong. I assume he's running as an independent, so likely he'd be up against Hilary Clinton and the Republican nominee in the General Election. He may strengthen Clinton by diluting the conservative vote. Hope i'm wrong.

I'm not a fan of Donald Trump for the most part. The term megalomaniac comes to mind when reflecting on Trump. And I certainly don't want him running for President in 2016.

Having said all of this, back in 2012, I rather Donald Trump would have run for President as a Republican compared to him supporting the pathetically politically correct Mitt Romney. At least with Trump, he would have put BHO on the Defensive.

I think its important to weigh the pro's and con's of Donald Trump:

Pros:

- He would build a border wall on the border with Mexico
- He has insulted the Quran in the past
- He will go on the offensive against OPEC & Chinese exploitation
- He has spoken about Obama's Kenyan birth
- He has pointed out that Obama is a child of affirmative action

Cons:

- He will take votes away from Ted Cruz
- He is a massive megalomaniac
- He attacked Pamela Geller after the Texas attack
- He has spoken of his friendship with Al Sharpton in the past (although recently Al Sharpton has been calling Trump a 'racist')
- It would be hard to elect him

Im in the ANY REPUBLICAN BUT BUSH camp at the moment. I cannot believe they are actually allowing him to be a candidate. Most people (even republicans) don't like Bush.

The only way to defeat Hillary is to have a republican who can debate her and put her as well as the media in its spot.

Only one such character I know of who was able to do it and despite his unpopularity, became even more popular until he was murdered; that was Rabbi Kahane.

As far is Trump is concerned...If he stays around long enough, he will be able to eliminate the weaker republican candidates who can't debate for the life of them..and that may include Rubio/Bush/Paul.

If Cruz can hold out and win debates with Trump, he may get the votes from Rubio/Bush/Paul.

We shall see. Cruz is a class act but will stand firm on principle, hopefully.
