May G-d bless her soul: Hadar Buchris stabbed to death at Gush Etzion junction

Nov 22, 2015 - Hadar Buchris, 21, of Safed was fatally stabbed as she waited for a ride at a hitchhiking stop at the Gush Etzion junction.

Hadar Buchris was waiting for a ride to the Zohar College for Women in Bat Ayin, in the Gush Etzion bloc, when a Palestinian terrorist stabbed her multiple times in the head, heart area and chest. She was evacuated in critical condition to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in nearby Jerusalem, where she was pronounced dead.

Originally, from Netanya, Hadar attended school in Safed and the Golan Heights, majoring in theater, before completing two years of national service working with children and youth, first at a moshav near Tiberias, then at Kibbutz Sde Eliahu in the Beit She'an valley.

After completing her national service, Hadar traveled around India for six months. She spent several weeks at the Habad House in Pushkar, and returned to Israel just two weeks ago, knowing that she wanted to study Torah. She immediately enrolled at the college for Torah studies in Bat Ayin and was planning to begin academic studies at the college next year.

Ayala Eretz Hatzvi, who was Hadar's theater teacher at Ulpenat Nov in the Golan Heights, related that Hadar had majored in theater. "She was a charming girl, radiant and friendly, a true woman of merit and a kind of psychologist to her friends, who could always turn to her and talk until the middle of the night."

Hadar told her grandmother, Aliza, that she had fallen in love with Jerusalem and wanted to build her life there, adding that if anything happened to her, she wanted to be buried in Jerusalem.

Hadar Buchris will be buried in the Givat Shaul cemetery in Jerusalem. She is survived by her parents, Arieh and Sigal, and four siblings: Zohar (23), Maayan (19), Noa (17) and Hillel (15).
