ACK, I think in the same way that transplanting human tissue and organs to treat medical conditions is allowed so is animal tissue and organs.

As i understand it, Jews aren't allowed to eat any part of a pig.  I think for the Muslims, they're not allowed to have any kind of contact with pigs.

That is the logic yes, and I believe not just to save life but also to treat severe conditions such as blindness.
