A group of people need help escaping the clutches of a totalitarian and draconian regime. You can't possibly be a moral person and say otherwise. Even for those that are trying to stave off war with China, showing them they can take lands and peoples as they please is educating them on the profits war will bring. If you were G-d forbid some twisted morality person and didn't want to recognize because you want to have compassion on the murderous ChiComs, then that would be compassion on the cruel and you are being cruel to the compassionate Vietnamese. The only people who would do that are psychotic liberals (aka regular liberals). For normal humans the reasons you could have to be against this all stem from fear, what will China do back, so whatever your excuse it's built on a rotten base. We can also see that Obama's both literal and figurative bowing to Chinese politicians only encouraged them to hack, steal from, cheat and abuse America more, so anything that hurts China is good. Taiwan is indeed a country in every sense, but if 20 families had boats permanently stationed in the water near China and China wanted it and they resisted and asked me to recognize them, I'd say long live Boatia almost as enthusiastically.
And for real, not just like a memo from the state department recognizing Taiwan, like a real enthusiastic long live Taiwan to piss them off even more. When they see you push back is when they go to the UN and every media agency and complain about American imperialism and exceptionalism and xenophobia, which is a strong indication that you're winning.
