Hebrew Calendar Facts

The Chinese New Year (and other lunar new years on the same calendar, such as those observed in Korea and Vietnam) always coincides with Rosh Chodesh (plus or minus 1-2 days), since it's on the new moon.  But which Rosh Chodesh?

* If it's a leap year, then it's Rosh Chodesh Adar I.
* If it's a non-leap year preceding a leap year, then it's Rosh Chodesh Adar [SEE EXCEPTION BELOW].
* Otherwise, it's Rosh Chodesh Shevat.
EXCEPTION: In year 7 of the 19-year cycle (the non-leap year that precedes year 8, the "latest" year in the cycle), it can sometimes be on Rosh Chodesh Shevat instead.  This happened in 2004, and will happen again in 2023.

The pandemic started during Adar last year right after Purim. Haman wanted to kill the Jews since 11 months before the 13th of Adar and was actually hanged on Passover. G-d brought about a miracle and everything was turned around. May the Communists get what they tried to do to the rest of the World. May this Purim be a Purim Katan when we celebrate the end of the Communist virus and the liberation of China from PRC occupation and may the Republic of China be reunited.
