 Erin O'Toole said that he was a 'True Blue Conservative' during the 2020 CPC Leadership Race. But it was evident that he was a 'Red Tory ' ( Canadian version of a RINO ).  One example of this is he had a 'Climate Change' section on his campaign website.  As Liberal as former MP and Leadership Candidate Peter MacKay is, at least he didn't pretend to be a True Blue Conservative. 

On top of everything else, O'Toole's Campaign Chair identifies with the Muslim Brotherhood!

Unless Stephen Harper re-emerges as the CPC Leader, I would be very surprised if Maxime Bernier comes back to the party or is welcomed back. The key decision makers at CPC Headquarters wanted no part of Bernier as Party Leader in 2017. To the extent that in a very close race in which the tabulation was Andrew Scheer winning a very close 2017 Leadership race, the raw voting data from the race was destroyed within hours after Scheer was announced as the winner. 

Since that time, Bernier left the CPC to form the People' s Party of Canada. For those not familiar with the PPC, it's a combination Libertarian and Populist party.  Bernier and his supporters have understandably been highly critical of the CPC.

Nachus,  in addition to what you mentioned which I certainly agree with, this is yet another example of the Phony Right arguably causing damage than the Open Left. 

Though Erin O'Toole doesn't have Pipi's political skills and hence very likely won't led the CPC to even a Minority Government win in the next Federal Canadian election, he's 'helping' cause irreparable damage to Conservatism in Canada.

The leadership race is voted on half by liberals. It is no longer efficient. We need a real mutiny and to establish someone as leader. Bernier's accent keeps him from winning so someone else with good right wing credentials.
